Company Logo

After thinking about all sorts of logos we see everyday we thought long and hard about what would make ours original but stand out. We looked at these few logos from some of the bigger film companies and decided on something more simple and easier to recognise as a movie company logo.
On the image left logos 7,8,10,11,12 and 13 all have a circular look about whether is is a building in the image or a land mark. These represent big things in life and make you think that the companies are going to be big.
Logos 1,4,5 and 6 are mainly focused on the text (namje of the company) and so are much easier to recognise.

Below is the logo our group came up with. We decided to to use an image and text as the name of your company is important and we wanted to show that, but also we wanted an image that people can relate films too.
These are some rough sketches of the logo, all of them are quite similar and all include a kind link to filming such as there is a popcorn bucket or a camera.

We may end up changing the logo if we suddenly come up with a better idea.

The Black Swan: Trailer

The Black Swan is a psychological drama in the way that the issues are represented. It is edited in similar ways as other psychological dramas for example, the music and fades are timed together to create a build up of suspence capturing the audiences attention. The voice over in this trailer tells you about the storyline but doesnt tell you what it is. The idea of a teaser trailer is to give the audience a taste of what is to come but leaves pieces of the puzzle missing. There is a lot of dialogue in this trailer which brings the characters more to life and allows the audience to connect.
The music starts off slow, quiet and harmonic. This is where the most dialogue is, but as the music starts to fasten in pace with deeper beating sounds the dialogue is still there but more apart and louder. The effect of this is creating tension and building suspence. This is what trailers are about, bringing their audience in and holding their attention untill the trailer ends. In our trailer we want people to be brought in by our music and editing. Like this trailer we want ours to start with an event and slowly grow into a story. All the techniques of editing and camera angles to create a psychological impulse have been used very well in this trailer and we hope to be able to capture sometihng similar that is suitable to our storyline.

Full Film Analysis with Audience Reaction

Notes on whole film analysis of shutter island. Covering the four key areas mise-en-scene, editing, sound and camera angles also we have done a secdtion on things which we could use in our film trailer.

Mise-en-sceneSet to time and place with expected things things such as approptiate equiptment visible. Outfits which identify patients and officers in the working place. Water dripping, matches have a significent meaning to the storyline. Overall the mise-en-scene is very in depth and intricate.

Editng
Flashbacks, reverse smoke movement shows time going back as he uncovers more and more of the story. Lighting and sound are fused together for extreme effects for example, when the music gets louder a white fade out creates more of an extreme effect - exiting that scene, Quick cuts are used between emotional scenes and more action packed scenes.

Sound
Slow music- deep sounds which sometimes interupt conversation.
Continuous build up at the beginning of the film whilst approaching Shutter Island.
Classical music is contrasted with the loudness of the stormy weather. The stormy weather relates to marshalls mood and the classical shows Dr. Cawleys relaxed mood.

Camera Angles
Close ups and exstreme close ups are used when characters are focusing on items such as door locks and other people. There is usually shot reverse shot between the two things. Panorama gives the large feel for the Island such as when the camera moves around the trees. Over the shoulder shots and two shots are often used during converstations. Close ups are used on the patients tattoos which could be symbollic of religion or like prioners tattoos.

Storylines/ key points
Lots of information is given at the beginning of the film.
Psychological messages and memories are shown through faded edites which makes you think about flashbacks. there are a few humorous points whether they are intentional or not.
Marshall often dreams about his 'wife' who seems to be controlling him. He doesnt want to let her go so this is why the dreams keep on happening.
